Daniil Medvedev shares his thoughts on the Rome Masters courts, noting the problematic Grandstand court has been relocated and improved for better consistency across the tournament.

Daniil Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion and current world No. 10, has offered his perspective on the playing surfaces at the Rome Masters, pointing out significant improvements he has observed. The 30-year-old Russian tennis star discussed the changes during a conversation with a correspondent from Чемпионат.com.

Medvedev generally holds the courts in Rome in high regard, but he singled out one particular venue that previously caused issues. The second most important court at the tournament, known as the Grandstand, featured a surface that differed noticeably from the other courts. According to Medvedev, this court played more like the conditions found in Madrid, while the other courts at the event had a looser composition with more clay.

The inconsistency created confusion among players. Medvedev emphasized that the problem was not with the quality of the Grandstand court itself, which he described as acceptable, but rather with its distinct characteristics compared to the rest of the facility. This disparity meant that players had to adjust their game significantly when moving between courts, which was a source of frustration for many competitors.

However, Medvedev revealed that the organizers have addressed this issue. The Grandstand court has been relocated, effectively removing the problematic surface from its previous position. While Medvedev has not yet had the opportunity to play on the new setup, he has received positive feedback from others who have experienced it.

Based on the reports he has heard, the changes have made the court situation at the Rome Masters much more logical and consistent. This should allow players to maintain a more uniform approach to their matches regardless of which court they are assigned to play on.

Medvedev expressed his readiness to compete wherever the tournament schedule places him. He indicated that he and his team are prepared to work hard and adapt to any court assignment they receive during the event.
