The Sibir Novosibirsk hockey club has officially locked in one of its homegrown talents. The organization announced it has agreed to terms with forward Ivan Klimovich on a new contract. The agreement is a two-way deal that will keep the 22-year-old with the club for the upcoming season.
Klimovich is a true product of the Sibir system, having developed through the club's youth ranks. His journey to the top professional level began in the 2022/2023 season when he made his debut for the senior team. Since then, he has established himself as a regular contributor, accumulating 153 appearances in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
During his time in the KHL, Klimovich has demonstrated his ability to contribute offensively. He has recorded a total of 24 points, split evenly between 12 goals and 12 assists. This production shows his potential as a two-way forward who can both create and finish scoring chances.
The young forward's hockey pedigree is strong. He is the son of former professional hockey player Sergei Klimovich. The passion for the sport clearly runs deep in the family, as three of Ivan's four brothers—Yegor, Nikita, and Fyodor—are also active hockey players.
Before joining the Sibir organization, Klimovich honed his skills in the hockey school of Belgorod. His formal affiliation with Sibir began in 2025, and he quickly progressed through the system. During the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 seasons, he was a key player for the Sibirskiye Snaypery, the club's team in the Junior Hockey League (MHL).
A significant milestone in his career came on November 23, 2022. On that date, Klimovich made his highly anticipated KHL debut. He stepped onto the ice for a home game against Amur Khabarovsk, helping his team secure a convincing 4-1 victory. That game marked the beginning of his journey in Russia's top hockey league.
By securing Klimovich for another year, Sibir ensures it retains a familiar face with valuable KHL experience. The contract provides stability for the player and allows the club to continue evaluating his development as he aims to take the next step in his professional career.
