Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma wins Premier League April Goal of the Month for a stunning volley vs Tottenham. It's his 3rd career win, tying the all-time record.

Brighton & Hove Albion's Japanese international Kaoru Mitoma has been awarded the Premier League's Goal of the Month for April. The recognition comes for his spectacular volley scored during the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on April 18th.

The goal was a moment of pure technical brilliance. Mitoma entered the match as a substitute in the first half. In stoppage time before the break, he met a cross from teammate Pascal Groß with a perfectly timed, direct left-footed volley that flew into the top near corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

This award is determined by a combination of fan voting and expert panel selections. Mitoma's strike beat out other strong contenders, including a powerful long-range effort from Arsenal's Eberechi Eze against Newcastle and a fine individual dribble and finish by Manchester City's Rayan Cherki against Arsenal.

The accolade marks a double celebration for Mitoma, as the same goal was also voted the BBC's Goal of the Month for April, securing 22% of the public vote. Winning both the official league award and the BBC's fan-voted prize constitutes a notable double for the winger.

While this is Mitoma's first Goal of the Month award of the current 2025/26 season, it is the third time he has won the prize in his Premier League career. This achievement places him in elite company, tying the all-time record for most wins since the award's inception in the 2016-17 season.

He now shares the record with Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes and former England international Andros Townsend. Mitoma's consistent ability to produce moments of individual brilliance continues to make him one of the most exciting players in the English top flight.
