Aracaju Court Orders Evacuation of Occupied Building: 24-Hour DeadlineA judicial decision signed on Wednesday, the 6th, has ordered the immediate evacuation of the building housing the Municipal Secretariat of Family and Social Assistance (Semfas) in the Suíssa neighborhood of Aracaju. The ruling gives the families currently occupying the structure a maximum of 24 hours to vacate the property.

The court order warns that failure to comply could result in fines and the use of necessary force, including police intervention. The families began their occupation of the Semfas building on Monday, the 4th. Their primary demand is the provision of housing for approximately 59 families associated with the Marielle Franco occupation in the Porto Dantas neighborhood.

In response to the situation, the Prefecture of Aracaju issued a statement. The city government stated that it has already assisted the 59 families in question, noting that they have completed the necessary registration for inclusion in official housing programs. The Prefecture affirmed it remains open to dialogue but emphasized that it does not condone practices that risk public order and safety.
