A client stabbed a hairdresser in São Paulo after a month-long dispute over a hair procedure. The woman was detained and will face charges for bodily harm and threats.

A routine hair appointment in São Paulo's Barra Funda neighborhood escalated into a violent attack, leaving a hairdresser with a stab wound. The incident, which unfolded over several weeks, began with a complaint about a hair procedure and culminated in a knife assault inside the salon.

The client, identified as 27-year-old Laís Gabriela Barbosa da Cunha, had visited the Casa Ferrare salon on April 7 for a highlighting and texturizing treatment. According to salon staff, she initially appeared satisfied with the results and even posted positive comments about the service on social media.

However, her demeanor changed in the days that followed. Laís began sending messages to the salon's WhatsApp, expressing dissatisfaction with her hair and demanding a refund or compensation. She reportedly made threatening statements, including a desire to "set fire" to the hairdresser, Eduardo Ferrari, who performed the service.

The situation intensified when Laís returned to the salon without an appointment on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 5. Security footage shows her confronting Eduardo while he was attending to another client. After a brief conversation, she pulled a knife from her purse and stabbed him in the back.

Staff and security personnel quickly intervened, subduing Laís and disarming her. Eduardo Ferrari sustained a superficial wound to his back and underwent a forensic examination. Even after being restrained, Laís continued to issue threats, allegedly stating that Eduardo "would die anyway" if the money was not returned and that she could send others to harm him.

Police were called to the scene and found the woman already immobilized. According to the São Paulo State Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), Laís confessed to the crime. The knife used in the attack was seized as evidence.

The case was registered as bodily harm and threats at the 91st Police District. Because these are considered lesser offenses, the police prepared a circumstantial term, which will be forwarded to the Special Criminal Court (Jecrim). Laís was detained but, given the nature of the charges, is expected to be released and respond to the process while free. The hairdresser's defense, however, argues that the attack constitutes attempted homicide.
