Juventus and Atletico Madrid negotiate Nico Gonzalez's future, with Atletico proposing a lower fee and a possible swap involving Johnny Cardoso. Juve also eyes Roma's Nicolo Pisilli.

The future of Argentine forward Nico Gonzalez remains a key topic in the transfer market, with Atletico Madrid signaling its intention to keep him. Head coach Diego Simeone has reportedly made a strong request to retain the player, viewing him as a crucial part of his plans for the upcoming season despite the recent Champions League final loss to Arsenal.

However, the financial terms of Gonzalez's move from Juventus are under renegotiation. The original agreement included a €32 million buyout clause, but Atletico Madrid has informed Juventus they are unwilling to meet that figure. The Spanish club is now proposing a significantly lower fee, believed to be in the region of €20 million, which aligns with the player's residual book value from July.

Atletico Madrid is also exploring creative solutions to facilitate the deal. One idea that has emerged in discussions is a potential player exchange. The name of American midfielder Johnny Cardoso, who holds an Italian passport, has been mentioned. Cardoso, who joined Atletico from Real Betis for €24 million a year ago, is a player Juventus has followed for some time. Atletico is reportedly open to including him in a deal as they seek a midfielder who can control the tempo of the game.

From Juventus's perspective, while the swap option is being considered, the club's primary valuation for Nico Gonzalez remains firm at €30 million. The Turin side is also evaluating other midfield profiles to strengthen the center of the pitch alongside Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram. The priority is to clarify Gonzalez's situation as soon as possible.

Separately, Juventus has initiated exploratory contact regarding another young talent: Roma's Nicolo Pisilli. The 2004-born midfielder has made a significant impression, particularly on Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti, who was notably impressed by Pisilli's performance during a match at the Stadio Olimpico.

Pisilli's development under manager Gian Piero Gasperini has been remarkable, and he has already established himself as a regular starter. Despite the potential for a substantial capital gain, Roma is currently very reluctant to entertain offers for the academy product. The club and coach believe Pisilli has further room for growth and could become a top-level player in the future, making a departure this summer unlikely.
