The fatal incident occurred inside the family home in the Jardim Jóquei Clube neighborhood. Following the crime, Ivan fled with the couple's son, who was an infant at the time and is now seven years old. Neither father nor son has been seen by the victim's family since.
"I have no news of my son or my grandson," Sônia Ferreira Nogueira told authorities. "On the day this happened, for me, it was over. Five days later, the vehicle was located abandoned in a sugarcane field in the rural area of Barrinha. The disappearance of Ivan and his son immediately followed the discovery of the body.
