Barcellona secured their 29th La Liga title with a 2-0 Clasico victory over Real Madrid, goals from Rashford and Ferran Torres sealing the trophy with three

Barcellona have been crowned champions of Spain for the 29th time in their history, clinching the La Liga title with three matches to spare after a dominant 2-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Clasico at Camp Nou. The triumph marks the second consecutive league title under coach Hansi Flick, who has revitalized the Blaugrana since taking over.

The match was effectively decided inside the first 18 minutes. Marcus Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a clinical finish after a swift counter-attack. Ten minutes later, Ferran Torres doubled the lead with a composed strike from Dani Olmo's assist, leaving Real Madrid shell-shocked and unable to recover.

"We knew we had to start fast and we did exactly that," Flick said after the match. "The team showed incredible mentality to seize the moment and never look back." Barcellona controlled the remainder of the game, comfortably seeing out a 2-0 win that sparked wild celebrations among the home fans.

This 29th Liga title cements Barcellona's status as one of Spain's most successful clubs, though they still trail Real Madrid's record 35 titles. However, winning back-to-back championships for the first time since 2018-19 signals a return to domestic dominance. Flick, who also won the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, has now added a La Liga crown to his resume.

The result was not the only story of the weekend. Earlier on Sunday, Mallorca and Villarreal played out a 1-1 draw at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix. Villarreal took the lead through a penalty from Ayoze Perez, but Mallorca's Vedat Muriqi equalized shortly after. The point leaves both sides in mid-table.

Elsewhere, Valencia secured a vital 1-0 victory away to Athletic Bilbao at San Mames. After missing a first-half penalty through Hugo Duro, Valencia found the breakthrough in the second half when former Roma forward Umar Sadiq slotted home the winner. The result boosts Valencia's hopes of European qualification.

In contrast, Real Oviedo and Getafe played out a forgettable 0-0 draw at the Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere. The match was marred by indiscipline as Real Oviedo finished with nine men after second-half red cards to defender Juan Lopez and midfielder Pape Sibo. The draw does little for either team's ambitions.

For Real Madrid, defeat in the Clasico means they finish the season without silverware, a disappointing outcome after winning the Champions League last year. Coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted his side were second best. "We couldn't match their intensity in the first half, and against a team like Barcellona, that is fatal," he said.

The 2025-26 La Liga season now concludes with Barcellona as deserved champions, having lost only three games all campaign. Attention now turns to the Copa del Rey final and summer transfer plans, but for now, the Blaugrana faithful can celebrate a 29th Liga triumph that feels like the start of a new era under Flick.
