Aston Villa defeated Nottingham Forest 4-0 to reach their first-ever Europa League final. Jadon Sancho, on loan from Manchester United, has now reached a UEFA final for the third straight season, having previously done so with Dortmund and Chelsea.

Aston Villa have etched their name into the club's history books by securing a place in the Europa League final for the first time ever. The Premier League side overturned a first-leg deficit against Nottingham Forest with a commanding 4-0 victory at Villa Park in the semi-final second leg.

The hosts took control of the tie early when Ollie Watkins opened the scoring in the 36th minute. Emiliano Buendía doubled the advantage from the penalty spot shortly after the hour mark, before captain John McGinn delivered a decisive late brace to seal a comprehensive aggregate victory and send the Villa faithful into raptures.

This achievement is particularly significant for manager Unai Emery, who has built a formidable reputation in this competition. The Spanish tactician previously guided Sevilla to an unprecedented three consecutive Europa League titles and also led Villarreal to glory in 2020-21. His only final defeat came with Arsenal in 2018-19, making this his remarkable sixth appearance in a UEFA Cup/Europa League final.

Among the celebrating players, forward Jadon Sancho stands out for a unique personal milestone. The England international, currently on loan from Manchester United, has now reached a major European final for the third consecutive year. Two seasons ago, he was part of the Borussia Dortmund squad that contested the Champions League final. Last season, while on loan at Chelsea, he helped the London club reach the Europa Conference League final.

Throughout this season's Europa League campaign, Sancho has made 12 appearances, contributing one goal and one assist. While his direct attacking output has been modest, his presence in the squad adds valuable experience of high-stakes European knockout football.

Aston Villa will now face German side Freiburg in the final, scheduled for May 21st at the Beşiktaş Park in Istanbul, Turkey. The match represents a golden opportunity for Emery to add a fourth Europa League title to his personal collection and for Villa to claim their first major European trophy since the 1982 European Cup.
