A 35-year-old man was rescued from a shack in Natal after being assaulted and held hostage for a day following a carjacking. He suffered injuries and was hospitalized.

In a dramatic rescue operation in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, a 35-year-old man was freed from captivity after being held hostage for approximately 24 hours. The victim had been assaulted the previous day, and his ordeal ended when authorities located him inside a makeshift dwelling in the Comunidade do Detran neighborhood, situated in the city's West Zone.

According to Military Police reports, the man was discovered in a distressed state, bearing visible hematomas across his body and actively calling for help. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed by authorities, was apprehended at the scene. Police are treating the incident as a kidnapping case.

The sequence of events began on Wednesday evening when the victim's family reported him missing after he failed to return home or make any contact. It was later determined that he had been the target of a robbery, during which his car was stolen. The vehicle was subsequently recovered on a nearby street, but the victim remained in the hands of his captor.

Emergency services transported the rescued man to a local Urgent Care Unit (UPA) for initial treatment. However, due to the nature and apparent severity of his injuries, he was transferred to the Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital for a more comprehensive medical evaluation.

The swift action by the Military Police led to the suspect's arrest in flagrante delicto, meaning he was caught in the act. This case highlights the ongoing challenges of violent crime in urban areas and the critical role of law enforcement in responding to such emergencies.
