A suspect linked to a robbery at a photovoltaic plant in Cravinhos, SP, was killed in a shootout with police during a pursuit on a state highway. One suspect was arrested, and two others remain at large.

A dramatic confrontation unfolded on a São Paulo state highway this Friday, resulting in the death of a suspect connected to a major robbery. The individual was killed during an exchange of gunfire with officers from the Special Police Actions Battalion (BAEP) in Ribeirão Preto.

The incident began hours earlier when a criminal group targeted a solar energy generation plant in the city of Cravinhos. During the invasion, the suspects subdued and physically assaulted the owner of a private security company who was guarding the facility.

Following the robbery, police launched an investigation and pursuit. The fatal encounter occurred on the Rodovia Antônio Machado Sant’Anna (SP-255). According to the officers' report, they came under fire from men who were hiding in a roadside thicket, prompting them to return fire.

The police operation resulted in the apprehension of one suspect at the scene. However, the situation remains active as authorities confirm that two other individuals involved in the initial crime are still fugitives.

The case highlights the risks associated with crimes targeting critical infrastructure, such as energy plants. The investigation into the full scope of the robbery and the identities of those involved is ongoing.
