Club América, known as "Las Águilas" (The Eagles), is a titan of Mexican and CONCACAF football, founded in Mexico City on October 12, 1916. The club was born from the merger of two local teams, "Récord" and "Colón," and was initially named "Centro Unión." The name was changed to Club América in 1918 to honor the continent and the club's ambition.
