Pacific FC, founded in 2018, is the youngest professional football club on Vancouver Island and one of the original seven members of the Canadian Premier League (CPL). Based in Langford, British Columbia—a suburban community within the Greater Victoria area—the club emerged from the country’s restructuring of the domestic game, bringing top-flight soccer to the island for the first time. The club’s identity is built on technical skill, high pressing, and a commitment to developing Canadian talent—a philosophy carried forward by current head coach James Merriman, who succeeded Kah after the title win. The Tridents share a fierce rivalry with Cavalry FC, dating back to the 2021 playoff clash, and with Forge FC, the league’s most decorated club. Matches against Vancouver Island’s amateur sides are rare but draw local interest.
