Russian coach Alexander Zhulin provides an update on figure skater David Narizhny's recovery from a second knee surgery in 2025. The pair aims for autumn trials if rehabilitation progresses.

Russian figure skating coach Alexander Zhulin has shared a positive update on the condition of skater David Narizhny, who is recovering from a significant knee procedure. According to Zhulin, Narizhny is currently experiencing no pain following his surgery.

Narizhny, who competes in pairs with Irina Khavronina, underwent his second knee operation within a year in December 2025. The skater's rehabilitation is reportedly progressing, with Zhulin noting that Narizhny has already returned to the ice.

While his partner Khavronina is training nearly every day, Narizhny's current focus is on strengthening his leg. "He still needs to build up the muscle in his leg," Zhulin explained, indicating that the recovery process is following its expected timeline.

The pair has set their sights on participating in the autumn control skates, a key event in the figure skating calendar. Their participation, however, is contingent upon Narizhny achieving full fitness in time.

Zhulin emphasized that the skaters are motivated to compete. "The desire to participate is there," he stated, highlighting their commitment to returning to competitive form.

The update comes as a welcome sign for the team after a challenging period marked by Narizhny's recurring knee issues. The successful surgery and absence of post-operative pain represent a crucial step forward in his recovery journey.
