A fatal traffic accident on the MG-414 highway in Araguari has claimed the life of a young motorcyclist. Glaucia Oliveira Pereira, 24, died on the afternoon of Thursday, May 7th, following a collision with a pickup truck.
According to the Military Highway Police (PMRv), the incident occurred when the 72-year-old driver of the pickup truck was attempting to cross the highway. The driver reported he had been parked on the roadside and was crossing to access a side road when he was surprised by the approaching motorcycle.
The driver's account states that Glaucia was in the process of overtaking another vehicle at the moment of impact. Her motorcycle struck the side of the pickup truck, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
Emergency services from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) were called to the scene around 1:00 PM. The accident took place on the stretch between the district of Amanhece and the city of Araguari. Upon arrival, paramedics confirmed that Glaucia had died at the scene. She was found on the roadway and had sustained multiple fractures.
The driver of the pickup truck was evaluated and found to have only minor injuries. He declined any further medical treatment at the scene. The emotional toll of the event was evident, as Glaucia's husband arrived at the location but was too distraught to provide her personal details to authorities.
The Civil Police were also dispatched to conduct a forensic investigation. After their work was completed, the body was released to the Frederico Ozanam Funeral Home. Glaucia's wake was held in the early hours of Friday, May 8th, with her burial scheduled for 3:30 PM at the Bom Jesus Cemetery.
