Olympic bronze medalist Mark Kondratiuk names Yuzuru Hanyu and Alexei Yagudin as his lifelong inspirations and shares his ideal team in a fun blitz interview.

European champion and Olympic bronze medalist Mark Kondratiuk recently sat down for a lively rapid-fire interview, offering his personal insights on the world of figure skating. The Russian skater shared his thoughts on current competitors, his inspirations, and even who he'd want by his side on a deserted island.

When asked who he believes will continue competing past the age of thirty, Kondratiuk pointed to the legendary Alexei Yagudin. Looking to the future of technical progression in Russia, he speculated that Vlad Dikidji might be the first to land a quintuple jump. For the skater who best interprets music on the ice, his answer was immediate and definitive: Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu.

Kondratiuk also highlighted several athletes whose performances consistently surprise him. He named Adam Siao Him Fa, along with fellow Russians Grisha Fedorov and Evgeni Semenenko, as skaters whose appearances on the ice never fail to impress. He added that Grisha Fedorov is also the person who can make him laugh the most from the heart.

For unwavering support, the skater credited his longtime coach, Svetlana Sokolskaya. He then revealed that his admiration for figure skating began in childhood, with two specific icons serving as his role models: Alexei Yagudin and Yuzuru Hanyu. He emphasized that these two skaters have been his primary sources of inspiration since he first fell in love with the sport.

If tasked with introducing a complete newcomer to the beauty of figure skating, Kondratiuk would showcase a curated list of champions. His selection includes Yuzuru Hanyu, Alexei Yagudin, Julia Lipnitskaya, Evgenia Medvedeva, and the pair team of Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov.

The interview took a more personal turn with questions about companionship. For a trip to a deserted island to avoid boredom, he chose Artur Danielyan, Grisha Fedorov, and Dima Aliev. Finally, when assembling his ultimate dream team for a hypothetical team event, Kondratiuk selected Victoria Sinitsina, Nikita Katsalapov, Alexander Galliamov, Anastasia Mishina, and Kamila Valieva.

The blitz interview was conducted for the YouTube channel 'DobroFON,' providing a fun and revealing look into the mind of one of Russia's top skaters.
