France U17 women beat Spain 1-0 after a 5-0 Poland win, moving closer to the Euro semi-finals. Mehisane Zidi scored the decisive goal in the 53rd minute.

The French U17 women's national team, known as the Bleuettes, has taken a commanding position in Group B of the European Championship in Northern Ireland. Following a dominant 5-0 opening victory against Poland, the squad secured a crucial 1-0 win over tournament favorites Spain, putting them on the brink of a semi-final berth.

The match against Spain was a tale of two halves. The first period saw the Spanish side, nicknamed La Rojita, control possession and create several dangerous opportunities. French goalkeeper had to be alert to deny efforts from Galvez, Chacon, and Vizuete as Spain looked to assert their dominance early on.

However, the French team demonstrated remarkable resilience and clinical finishing. Despite being under pressure for much of the first half, they struck with devastating efficiency on their first clear chance of the second period. In the 53rd minute, forward Mehisane Zidi received a precise pass from Diénébou Niakaté and unleashed a low, left-footed shot that beat the Spanish goalkeeper at the near post.

Zidi's goal proved to be the match-winner, though she came close to adding a second later in the game. Her right-footed attempt in the 83rd minute sailed just over the crossbar. Teammate Adedini also had a chance to seal the victory in stoppage time but was thwarted by Spanish keeper Anita Veiga.

This result, combined with their earlier demolition of Poland, gives France a perfect six points from two matches. They now await the outcome of the other Group B fixture between Finland and Poland to confirm their progression. A place in the tournament's final four is now a very realistic prospect for coach Frank Plenecassagne's talented young squad.

The victory highlights the team's tactical discipline and ability to perform under pressure against elite competition. While Spain dominated territory, France showed the defensive organization and attacking precision needed to win at this level of international youth football.
